Great coffee starts
at the farm
IncaFé™ Organic Coffee sources coffee from organic growers and supports supply chains that reward the work of growing shade-grown, organic coffee. That means better quality beans for you, and a better quality of life where coffee is grown with care. Organic coffee is almost always grown on small family farms where families also grow their own food and wood.
How we sell matters just as much. We keep organic products affordable so more people can buy them. The benefits of organic agriculture are often understated, leaving people thinking there is little difference, and not prepared to pay what should only be a relatively small premium.
There is a huge difference. More demand grows supply, strengthens farm prices, and expands organic farming that is better for climate and biodiversity.
Organic coffee is
climate action
Organic coffee growing can capture more carbon than it emits along the supply chain, including brewing. It helps keep waterways clean and promotes biodiversity. So it not only produces a tastier, cleaner cup. It is better for the environment and healthier for farm workers.
Small organic farmers take extraordinary care processing coffee. Traditional sun-drying needs constant attention, turning beans multiple times a day for weeks, to reach the right moisture and develop complex flavour. That hands-on work is impossible at industrial scale, and it is why supply chains that reward organic craft matter in the cup.
Long-term
partnerships
In many growing regions it is hard to find trust and motivation to set up cooperatives, even when the advantages are clear. That is where buyers can help.
We communicate, try to meet both parties’ needs, and commit volume with a longer-term view, so there is incentive to invest. Building trust takes time. Lean cooperative models that clearly work for the farmer beat elaborate structures built only for certification premiums.
Four steps we take with origin partners
Build trust
Start with clear conversation: understand needs, challenges, and goals before talking volume.
Commit long-term
Volume and a longer horizon give growers the security to invest in quality and organics.
Support the craft
Help with processing know-how and equipment where it adds real value at origin.
Share the value
Origin integrity means supporting better returns for organic farming and accessible organic coffee for customers in NZ.
Small farming
& organics
You never hear small farmers talk about return on investment. For them the farm is everything. It is their life. Large operations often treat land as another investment, maximising yield with machines and chemicals while soils are still good.
That starts a cycle of degradation: more chemicals, less nutrition, falling yields. Who pays for warming, dirty waterways, collapsing biodiversity, and health costs? Small organic and near-organic farmers should get a better price for the real work they do.
Our duty to
grow organics
Organic certified products often cost consumers far more than the farm-gate difference. Someone is trying to make money from good conscience, and that dampens demand, which slows organic agriculture.
We are passionate about making organics affordable and helping it grow. We only pass on farm-gate differentials, so more people can buy organic, and growers still receive better returns for organic farming.
Visiting
our partners
Trust needs personal relationships. Where we can, we visit farming partners to understand challenges, celebrate successes, and improve together.
These visits show the quality of the work, the conditions growers face, and the impact of partnership on communities. It is not just about coffee. It is about lasting relationships that benefit everyone.
Why certification
matters
In New Zealand, “organic” is still unprotected without certification. It can mean almost anything. True organic certification means standards, inspections, and traceability.
When you choose certified organic coffee, you support verified sustainable practice and better returns for organic growers. It is the only way to be sure you are getting what you pay for.
