Coffee & Organics
Coffee is originally a shade plant and is perfect for organic agriculture. It is one of the easiest crops for organic growing and with the right companion plantings it can produce a higher income for the grower, better coffee for you and a better environment for all.
Our coffee beans are grown in forested ecosystems where trees, canopy shade, and an abundance of insect and bird life all contribute to healthy plants in fertile soil, producing full-flavoured coffee beans.
Trees stop soil erosion, trap moisture, create stable microclimates, provide continuous compost and nutrition, and harbour animals, maintaining a healthy, balanced ecosystem. The result is healthy, nutritious soil that allows organic coffee plants' roots to grow deeper and absorb more nutrients, yielding slow-grown, full-flavoured coffee beans.
Healthy soils trap huge amounts of carbon — more than the vegetation on top of it. Organic coffee growing helps keep that carbon in the ground.
Great coffee starts
at the farm
IncaFé™ Organic Coffee sources coffee from organic growers and supports supply chains that reward the work of growing shade-grown, organic coffee. That means better quality beans for you—and a better quality of life where coffee is grown with care. Organic coffee is almost always grown on small family farms where families also grow their own food and wood.
We keep long-term relationships with trusted origin partners — primarily in Peru, but also from India, Indonesia and Ethiopia — so quality, consistency and price can improve together. Building trust takes time. Where we visit farming partners, we do so to understand challenges, celebrate successes, and keep those relationships strong.
Our mission to
grow organics
Organic certified products often cost a lot more to the consumer than what the difference in farm-gate price is (versus non-organic). Products get marked up each time they pass hands, multiplying the original difference in farm-gate price until organic products can become quite unaffordable and may not offer the quality expected.
The difference in price is a big dampener on demand, which slows the growth of organic agriculture.
We are passionate about making organics affordable and making it grow, so we only pass on farm-gate differentials. This approach helps more people access organic products whilst ensuring farmers can grow their organic offering.
Supply and demand of organic products is closely matched. With more demand, supply and farm price will become better. This is what the sector needs: education about organics and the climate benefits of organic farming, and people prepared to pay a bit more for organics.
